Scope and inputs to reconcile
Identify utility mains, laterals, meters, manholes, catch basins and connection details on the civil sheets. Separate gravity pipe with invert elevations from pressure pipe and note demolition, pavement crossings and work by the utility provider.
Workflow and checks
Reconcile plan routes with profiles and connection details. Measure each size and material, count structures, and use the specified trench sections to model excavation and bedding. Track missing elevations as unresolved quantities rather than assuming a depth.
What the output should show
Request a utility quantity schedule with plan/profile references, connection counts, trench assumptions, restoration quantities and a written civil/building handoff list. Identify utility fees and specialist subcontract quotations separately.
Exclusions and unresolved decisions
Utility design, permits, traffic control, dewatering, shoring design and contaminated-soil handling require explicit scope decisions. Do not duplicate trench or connection costs carried by another trade.
Documents to share for a quote
Send civil plans and profiles, survey/geotechnical information, utility connection instructions, bid limits and the building plumbing set. State whether quantities only or installed costs are needed.
