Use fixture-based comparisons with a consistent scope denominator.

Plumbing cost per fixture is an estimate total divided by a defined fixture count. It is useful only when the cost scope, fixture mix and project conditions are comparable; it is not a universal unit price.

Confirm scope and assumptions against your project documents.

Scope and inputs to reconcile

Define whether the numerator includes distribution piping, equipment, site work, labor and fixtures. Define whether combination units and non-plumbing equipment count as fixtures.

Workflow and checks

Reconcile fixture types against plans and schedules, then divide the matching cost subtotal by that count. Compare the fixture mix before interpreting differences between projects.

What the output should show

Record the cost scope, fixture count, calculation date and excluded systems next to the resulting ratio.

Exclusions and unresolved decisions

One fixture count cannot describe long pipe runs, central plant or unusual equipment. A zero count provides no meaningful per-fixture comparison.
