At a glance

Combine calibrated plan lengths with documented vertical dimensions.

Pipe measurement combines horizontal route lengths with vertical segments and offsets. Calibrate each usable plan view against a known dimension; do not assume the same scale applies to every sheet or detail.

Confirm scope and assumptions against your project documents.

Scope and inputs to reconcile

Identify measurement units, drawing scale, vertical heights and the system/material/size classification for each route.

Workflow and checks

Check a second known dimension, trace route segments and add documented rises/drops. Reconcile overlaps between plans and risers before totaling length.

What the output should show

Record sheet/view, measurement units, horizontal length, vertical basis and resulting system quantity.

Exclusions and unresolved decisions

Do not scale not-to-scale schematics or treat perspective isometrics as undistorted plan views. Stock/cut allowances are separate from measured route length.

Documents to share for a quote

Send current PDF/CAD drawings with dimension references and floor/equipment elevations.
