At a glance

Use risers to reconcile vertical connections, floors and pipe sizes.

A plumbing riser diagram shows system relationships between floors and branches. It is often schematic, so it should not be scaled for pipe footage unless the drawing explicitly supplies a usable measurement basis.

Confirm scope and assumptions against your project documents.

Scope and inputs to reconcile

Identify stack tags, floors, branch connections, pipe-size changes and referenced equipment.

Workflow and checks

Match each riser to floor-plan occurrences, then use stated elevations and dimensions for vertical lengths. Record omitted heights or offsets as assumptions needing confirmation.

What the output should show

Produce a stack/floor reconciliation and vertical-length register linked to both riser and plan sheets.

Exclusions and unresolved decisions

Symbol spacing on a schematic is not physical distance. Avoid counting a branch once on the plan and again on the riser.

Documents to share for a quote

Provide floor elevations, riser sheets and the corresponding floor plans for measurement.
